Brothers, Bob (Left) and Bill ready for the big game
Today was a hard day for Bob and felt like a step backwards in his recovery. He still has a fever and is battling a Respiratory Infection. The doctors and nurses asked that we didn't touch Bob, or his bed to limit the chance for more germs. This was really hard for us because we had to limit our time with him. We periodically checked in on him and communicated with the nurses. Bob was sedated with Dipravan and used a cooling blanket for most of the day to help fight the fever.
Bob's EKG came back fine this morning although the doctors did detect an irregular heartbeat. They also tested his potassium, magnesium and electrolytes. All levels came back normal. We were also very happy that Bob's pupils dilated when the doctor tested them. We are hopeful that today's small step back will lead to larger steps forward in the near future.
Please keep your prayers coming for Bobby...
I spent the entire day at the hospital today. Although it is extremely difficult to see Bob in the Intensive Care Unit and have a day where we are limited in our time with him, we all agree that whatever it takes to help Bob heal is what we want. He is heavily sedated with Dipravan and on Morphine for pain. He also is being given Kepper as an antibiotic to help him fight this respiratory infection. The nurses are helping him keep his blood pressure and heart rate where it needs to be. There truly are things to be grateful for amidst these trying days. His heart is strong, his pupils dialate and he has been able to open his eyes at times, his strength is incredible in his left arm and leg, he is able to feel pain and can get very agitated when his throat is being suctioned, his kidneys work, and we've even seen a tear in his eyes. Our focus is on getting rid of the respiratory infection and getting him off the ventilator. Thank you all for your prayers, love, encouragement, and support. They mean so much to us and we can't wait for the day to come where we can tell Bob. "Big sister Laurie"
