Bob and the Birthday Girl
Happy 17th Birthday Laurie!
Bob is on his way to getting off the ventilator completely. Throughout this journey there will be improvements as well as setbacks along the way, but we feel that he is in the best place possible for the severity and type of stroke that he had. Bob is still pretty sick. There is a tremendous amount of swelling in his brain from the large bleed and it will take time for the blood to dissipate. Bob did open his eyes today and was able to follow a voice.
The doctors are looking at getting Bob off the ventilator so that he can begin rehab with physical and occupational therapy. MRI and MRA results will be coming soon, so we will know more in the next few days. Bob is being seen by the neurology/stroke specialist doctors and is in very good hands.

ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping us informed about Uncle Bob's progress; he is constantly in our thoughts and prayers. It is difficult to be such a great distance away while Agnes, Laurie, James and all of you are experiencing such a tremendous challenge.
ReplyDeleteI do think it is only appropriate on Laurie's birthday to acknowledge what a caring parent Bob is and how ticked off he must be that he is too sick to celebrate it with her. He has not only devoted his time to his two children, whom he is so very proud of, but he has also given so much of himself over the years to Susie's children, and provided friendship and mentorship to our son, PJ, as well.
The Bob we know is a generous person that never thinks twice about doing something for a family member, friend, or even a stranger. We all hope that this spirit of giving is repaid to Bob through a full recovery.
Bob has been working with Laurie on Pole Vaulting which he had some success with in high school himself. He's been excited about her progress and will be so happy to hear about her qualifying for Regionals (to be held next week). I think Elizabeth is absolutely right to recognize how great a parent Bob is on Laurie's birthday.
ReplyDeleteI am moved by seeing the pictures of Bobby with his children. Prayers have tremendous strength and this comes with many. God Bless Bob, family and friends. This inspirational piece may help you as you struggle through each day in the not knowing. www.mayyoubeblessed.com
