Wednesday Update

Bob in his earlier years

Bob prior to learning that mustaches aren't cool

I am happy to report that Bob is taking steps towards getting better, slowly, but surely.  His chest x-ray showed a little improvement since yesterday.  He continues to have his sedation (28) and Morphine (6) lowered.  His oxygen level was also brought down to 60% with the vent.  Bob is also doing much better with keeping the pressure of fluid levels in his brain lower.

The trauma doctor made the decision today to give Bob an IV filter so that he doesn't get any blood clots.  They were concerned about the blood clots because he hasn't been able to move or turn over because of the respiratory infection and trauma to his brain.  The ultrasounds of Bob's legs showed no clotting, but it is now 2 weeks that he's been laying on his back and the medical staff is trying to prevent any additional problems.  The filter will now run through the main artery of his upper right leg.  Although the doctors remain cautious, we cling to the hope that these are all good signs.  Thank you so much for all your prayers.

  2. Agnes, I just heard about Bob and wanted to extend my heartfelt sympathies for you both and hope that Bob can make a full and speedy recovery. I've known Bob for a long time and know him to be of strong character with an even stronger constitution! I hope you don't mind but I alerted a couple of people in the Wendy's family as they will want to know of his progress. Please let me know if there's anything we can do to help. As big a part of the restaurant as Bob has been, if you need any help with shift coverage or anything, please don't hesitate to ask. I can be reached at 772-201-8468. I know you and I have only met once or twice at a Co-op meeting but we're close by and can assist you or Susie if you need it. I may take it upon myself to give you a call if it's not to much of an intrusion.
    All the best,
    Mark Reed

  3. This blog is a wonderful thing. The pictures of Bob and his family always make me smile, and I can't wait to give him a hard time about the moustache and dashiki when we sit down and talk again. Keep up the great work on this site!

Bob remembers some of my growing up stories better than I do and he is always a great audience for any story about family, mine or anyone elses. We all know how much he loves his own family and how proud he is of Laurie and James. He's a tough guy and I think he's gonna surprise us all very soon.
